Abstract

Stress is a contributing cause for cardiovascular and cerebral conditions, primarily because of the stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system, performing an increase in blood pressure and heart rate. Music remedy has been recognized as a successful non-pharmacological system for stress operation. The end of this study was to estimate the effect of active necessary music performance (ukulele and keyboard) on the physiological parameters of stress in amateur musicians. A pre-post experimental study was conducted on healthy participants with no formal professional musical training. Pre-test measures of systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), pulse rate, and oxygen saturation (SpO₂) were measured using a digital blood pressure machine and oximeter in a resting state. Participants also performed 2-5 minutes beats of guided essential playing. The same physiological variables were recorded incontinently after the trouble and compared to the pre-test data. After carrying out successful interpretation of before and after playing musical instruments, the data shows a 6% reduction in pulse rate and systolic blood pressure, with slight variations in diastolic blood pressure. Oxygen Saturation remained within normal physiological ranges. These findings suggest that active participation in playing musical instruments stimulates a relaxation response and affects autonomic function indeed in amateur musicians.

This study provides objective physiological validation for necessary music playing as an affordable, accessible and non-invasive system for stress management. The novelty of this study lies in the dimension of active music performance rather than unresistant listening, and the attendant dimension of physiological parameters. The system can be applied in an educational and occupational terrain. Still generalizability may be impacted by sample size and duration. At huge scale research in the future is advised to confirm the long-term advantages for various groups coming from different backgrounds, including amateur musicians.
