A brief discussion of luminescent and mechanoluminescent materials has been provided in the current chapter. It includes study of different synthetic methodologies reported in the literature for luminescent and mechanoluminescent inorganic and organic materials. It also relates the effect of doping, vacancy concentration and crystal structure on luminescent phenomenon of materials.
