Abstract

Dihydropyrimidinones (DHPs) and their derivatives were successfully synthesized using an Ag-doped- Zn nano catalyst in the presence of urea and acetylacetone under environmentally friendly conditions. The methodology offers a simple one-step procedure, short reaction time, and excellent product yields. The Ag-doped Zn nano catalyst exhibits enhanced catalytic activity due to the synergistic interaction between Ag and Zn leading to higher product yields, improved selectivity, shorter reaction times also demonstrates good stability and reusability. The synthesized compounds were characterized by melting point determination and thin-layer chromatography (TLC), and their structures were further confirmed by ¹H NMR and ¹³C NMR spectroscopy.
