Abstract

Abstract: This study presents a comprehensive analysis of multimedia content protection applications utilizing blockchain technology. A taxonomy is established to categorize these applications based on the technical dimensions of blockchain technology, content protection methods, specifically encryption, digital rights management, digital watermarking, and fingerprinting (or transaction tracing), as well as performance metrics. The literature review indicates that there is yet no comprehensive and systematic taxonomy for blockchain-based copyright protection solutions. Furthermore, the quantity of effectively built blockchain-based content protection systems is exceedingly limited. This indicates a deficiency in research. We propose a taxonomy that amalgamates technical elements and application expertise to direct researchers in the development of blockchain-based multimedia copyright protection systems. Additionally, the report addresses several technological obstacles and delineates prospective research avenues.
