Abstract

Abstract – In recent years, attention has been given for performance based analysis. It requires analysis of building in several performance levels. The performance of the building is evaluated by pushover analysis because of its simplicity. It involves determination of structural strength and displacement. The main aim of the present study is to evaluate the seismic performance of 5 storey single bay Reinforced Concrete (RC) frame structure confirming to zone V and to compare the performance of the fixed base structure with soil structure interaction by using nonlinear static pushover analysis and nonlinear dynamic N2 method. The analysis is carried out using SAP2000. The flexible base model indicates the soil structure interaction which is modelled by considering soft clay (type III) and pile foundation. The RC frame is designed using IS:456 – 2000 and the seismic parameters are taken from IS:1893 - 2016. The pushover analysis is performed according ATC 40 and FEMA 356 guidelines and the N2 method is performed according to the literature done by Peter Fajfar. The building performance is represented by plastic hinge formation and the curve base shear vs roof displacement (pushover curve) represents the variation in the building performance.
