In the past two decades free space optical communication has developed into a highly interesting and valuable alternative for radio frequency communication. Free Space Optical communication (FSO) systems have been developed due to increasing demand for high speed, unlicensed spectrum, high bandwidth. FSO communication is an emerging technology for future networks systems because it offers high bandwidth, throughput, high data rate making it as a best alternative of companion for RF communications. The objective of this project focuses on analyzing the future prospects FSO communication under various atmospheric conditions like fog, clear sky, rain(light, heavy, medium) and how they affect the link performance. The study involves performing a detailed link budget analysis to know the power losses in various atmospheric conditions like rain, haze, fog, clear sky. Results from previous works has been considered for the analysis. MATLAB is used to simulate the FSO link performance and calculate signal strength losses based on established atmospheric models and key variables like transmitted power, antenna gains, and path loss from the previous datasets. Based on the simulation various graphs has been plotted to check how various atmospheric conditions affect the link performance.
